I am very fortunate, as my parents are paying for my insurance on my focus. We agreed that I will pay the difference between insurance cost of the s and the focus, but it may still be more than I can handle. I will call and find out what it will be. I reeeeealy hope I can haha
Thanks

I have also heard that some spins are because the driver does not blip the throttle on the way down. Should I do this when I'm entering a turn?

Thank you!
Jesse
Don't do it when entering a turn, do it before you enter the turn.

The car should be settled before you start turning in, so downshifts and braking must be complete before you start turning the wheel left or right. And yes downshifts must be rev-matched. Again that's something you will learn by doing under the watchful eye of an instructor. Hold off doing it yourself until an instructor has showed you how to do it.

If money is your concern you might want a little more than $3k extra or hold off on it all together. Just wait until you change your tires every year, not to mention synthetic oil, and premium gas. I guarantee that the maintenance alone will be more than double or triple what it costs to maintain a focus.

I'm not trying to rain on your parade or discourage you because we'd love to have a new enthusiast but insurance is probably the least of any S2000 drivers worries.

transfer weight from side to side before going into a conner
and be carefull of throttle inputs,

learned this first hand and had a pretty nasty accident,
drove the s like she was a fwd or awd car -___-
but now im wiser and have her fixed

but i wouldnt waste 3k just like that.
the s2000 is a good na engine that doesnt really do well with bolt ons

intake header test pipe exhaust will get you just a bit more power.
sc or turbo is the way to go

but for 3k D: your going to have a hard time tunning and even getting all the
parts and labor ):

I highly suggest waiting for a MY06+. They come with VSA, which saved my car twice.

S2K is a very confidence inspiring car. It sticks to the road, turn-in is pretty quick, and does not dive in corners. So it is possible that you may go over your limits. Once you make that mistake and the rear comes around, it is very to difficult to recover. VSA will prevent most of these cases (unless you're trying to defy the laws of physics). It will literally kick the rear back in line before you notice what's happening.

on public roads? that just sounds like plain old poor driving to me. i've been DDing an AP1 for the last year and a half without any issues at all. drive appropriate to the conditions and you'll be fine. snap oversteer should really only concern track drivers, i don't get why everyone makes such a big deal about it
