Paint chipping on hood latch
Hi All
I have noticed the paint is chipping on the part of the hood latch attached to the hood. Has anyone come up with anything to stop this...perhaps a stongard like wrap for the latch?
OK....now that you know I am just crapping around....how many people out there think that some people are just a bit too anal with their Stook? I have seen things like people trying to keep the black paint from chipping where the roof latches catch. Is your car going to be in a museum 20 years from now? Will it only have 2200 miles on it? If not, than what is all the fuss about? I can see keeping it nice, and I do, but....not to the extent of cleaning around the edge of the oil filter with a Q-Tip.
Am I alone here? Now that the 2002 is coming out...let's all get out there and drive! Ours won't be worth anything now anyway.
And those of you who want to get rid of your S because it isn't a 2 year limited run anymore.....see ya!
As therapy for the most anal among us, please submit the most ridiculous thing you have done to protect the car. We should all have a good time with this one.
And before all of the replies about people having to trade food stamps to get the car and therefore having to spit shine it every six seconds......I work very hard for mine and Mom and Dad have contributed the same amount the Stook will appreciate in 5 years. That is.....nothing!!!!!

I'm with you, I bought it to drive it...now. Not to pull off the shrink wrap 20 years from now and stare at it in some museum. Besides, what does a good example of a S800 go for these days? Who even knew that the S series existed before the S2000 arrived? I'm sure many of you have spent countless hours cleaning and detailing to have a flock of birds take target practice or even worse someone runs a light and whamo, all gone, bye-bye. I'm a driver, tomorrow's never guaranteed to anyone.... so enjoy.

I think the only paint chip Mr. rjm161 has is on his shoulder. It's called pride of ownership. The care one exercises in washing, waxing and otherwise keeping their car nice is directly proportional to what the car will be worth in a few years. Many folks actually relish the weekly ritual of wash, dry; wax-on, wax-off. I don't, but I certainly understand the passion.
