When I bought my car (3 weeks ago no), I noticed that there's a paint defect on the front bumper cover, on eah side where the bumper cover meets the hood, just inside of the headlights. The paint is just slightly peeling here.

Anyway, It seems there there are frequent factory paint defects with the S2000.

I have an appointment to have the district rep look at the defect and approve the repair next week. I asked the service manager the possibility of having this taken care of towards the end of the warranty, since there will likely be some scratches and stuff (from bottoming out, chips, etc). He seemed to indicate that they would be very unlikely to cover it because of the time that would have passed.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to handle this? I'd like to avoid having it done now, but would like it done eventually. And right now I dont want to be without the car and with a POS rental for a week right now.

Got the same problem with mine and had it repainted at the dealer's contracted body shop about 6 months ago. The whole bumper appeared to have been repainted. The paint peeling is back on the left side again. I haven't done anything to it this time since my dealer is about 120 miles away. Maybe I'll just have them redo the paint, Do the set belt recall and fix the 2nd gear grind during the christmas holiday. BTW, the paint on the bumper didn't match perfectly.

I've had this problem for over six months and I've had the dealer note it on a service order. I told him that I will have it fixed at a later date under warranty.

i did the same as TFota, rather no do it till later, and only if it appears to be getting worse. Once repainted it's never the same in my opinion

After reading that linked thread, it got me worried. Just exactly how many people have this paint peeling problem?

I did a examination of all s2000s at the last Englishtown meet. If I recall correctly, about 6 cars out of 11 present had the paint peeling or about ready to peel at either of the fenders.
Apparently, not enough S owners cares, which is why the regional rep denies ever hearing it.
I'm getting sick of this and all the other glitches with the s2000, as well as the dealers' over all attitude and lack of service quality. I doubt I'll ever buy another Honda over $20,000.

jzyang, there is nothing wrong with your car that having a better dealer wouldn't cure. Hope you can find one.
