Ok guys......I was standing outside smoking a cigarette, staring at the back of my car (I often stare at my car )

I came to realize something...the tailights, there is a red disc, and a clear disc, with a clear cover over it. My car is red, so the red disc looks good. I found myself wondering, since I hang with many s2k's how spa, suzuka, silverstone, and berlina would look with the red disc replaced by a body color disc....or even just a yellow, suzuka colored, grey,or charcoal disc. Of course Modifry or MacGyver would have to come up with a lighting solution, but its just a thought. I will try to photoshop what I am talking about....but my skills arent that good...so if someone else can do it, thatll be cool....Just a thought.

Look at the tailight....imagine everything that is RED to be like stained glass yellow (for spa) etc.....see what I'm sayin?

It's a real PITA to crack open the rear lights. In fact almost everyone that has done it has screwed it up somehow.

I am sure every cop would harass you about that mod.
Now the black area around the round lenses could be painted to match the body.

 

Kodokan_4 painted the area around the lights (the part that is black in your pix) bodycolor. It looks pretty good. The cover marcus posted would be pretty sweet too, I think. Especially of the rear facia could be made to be all one piece with no seams.

 

Im pretty sure it would not be illegal at all. First of all, there are no laws for lenses....just bulbs....as long as they light up red/blink orange/red, i think its ok... Also, how can you explain all those mustangs and firebirds with the solid black light???

 

I have had my like this for 8 months now.

I have a few taillights hanging around and have been toying with the idea of redoing the taillights somehow. I'll be seeing Macgyver later on tonight and will see what his take on it is.
