rateds2k and kodokan_4 - I love that look! I think that would look really good on my Suzuka... if I could afford a few extra pairs of taillights! I'd probably crack more than one pair in my clumsiness...

you don't understand. those 'black tails' are just tint. the red brake lights will still shine red. you want to actually change the color of the brake light lense to something else. if it's not red, your brake lights won't be red, even if you put a red bulb back there. the only way it would shine red is if the lense was clear, and even then you would still need a red REFLECTOR in the back for it to be legal. go ahead and do it for like cars shows or something, but in daily driving it's illegal and dangerous.

Since we're talking about painting the tailamps, I have a question.

Some of you may recall how some tailamps fade to PINK with time and UV exposure. I am on my second set in 4 years and 60k miles. The next time I have to replace them will be out of my pocket, so I wanna know if the pink faded area can be color-matched (or even just blacked out).

I have my doubts because the fading lense wraps around the side of the car, with a bulb behind it.

I'm just trying to find a long-term solution to the fading lenses without spending $$$ at the Honda parts counter every few years. The OEM lenses are stupid expensive.

Any suggestions?

Wow....old thread ressurected........

Anyway.......the fact that the light wont be red, is not an issue. THis is a job for the lighting gurus here. A yellow lens with a certain color bulb will output a red light. But this idea went down in flames. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

I would like to see a round european yellow turn indicator lens instead of a white colored lens and a half yellow bulb.
This would change the back up color to yellow.

Actually, yellow is a combo of red and green, so if the lense is yellow already, there's no color you could put through it to get red back out again.

I could always put some of my LEDs in the taillights...they could be any color you want, and STILL turn red when you hit the brakes
