i like to park with the topdown if im gonna be back quick. i never cease to forget the pos people out there though. i was with my friend about 2 weeks ago who has a tracked out miata that is very nice and clean, and while we were gone for about 2 hours someone hopped in and jumped on the seats and left the brights on so it killed the battery. nothing was gone, someone just decided it would be funny to leave dirty footprints on the seats and dash. we were able to push start though

I'll usually leave the top down. I'd rather have the sun shine on the seats than on the top. If the seats fade, I don't care, because there's nothing fancy or luxurious about the interior of my stock S. However, I don't want the sun to weaken the already weak soft top. I also leave the car empty and the glovebox locked.

I've only regretted doing this twice. Once I did this at Six Flags and someone spilled soda on the passenger seat.

Another time I walked out to find a few squirrels playing in it. Who knows what else they may have done in it??

I'll leave it down if I'm running into a store or something for a brief period only. Glovebox locked. Any extended period no.

I see very little advantage to parking with the top down.

I don't see the point.

Just imagine bird shit on your seats, or some douche deciding to spit in your car or throw something in it... Unless its parked in a very safe place where I will be only a short time there, the top is up.

Luckily I live in a nice enough area where I can leave the top down, but I always have this fear that a bird will poo or someone will spit or throw trash inside. On sunny days I generally will put the top up if leaving the car for a period of time just because of the heat on the leather.. and metal knob... touching that stuff never feels good.

Being inside the car with the top down the only fear I really have is birds... understandably.

You must have a slow top. Mine takes all of 7 seconds to put up.

I only leave my top down if it's not blaring hot and I'm within sight of the car (ie: at a restaurant, at the park, etc.)

never, unless I am going to the post office or something very brief I will leave it down, gone more than 5 minutes the top is up like the berlin wall.
