Late night top down and parked. Only did it because I was in a safe neighborhood at the time.

I left my top down at a large car meet and someone ganked my $10 drug store sun glasses!

I've never had problems with haters and leaving my top down. In fact when I drive to the movies (in the evening usually) I always leave it down. During the day (since mid May) I ride more up than down b/c of the heat, so my top down time has gone down. Unless I park at an apartment complex, for the most part, it'll stay down. Maybe we are just nicer here in Tampa than elsewhere?

Also, less putting it up and down = less wear and tear, imho. My top is OEM from '03 and I'd like it to last a decade at least.

Only takes 30 seconds to put it up. Worth it to protect the interior from sun and birds.
You must have a slow top. Mine takes all of 7 seconds to put up.

I only leave my top down if it's not blaring hot and I'm within sight of the car (ie: at a restaurant, at the park, etc.)
This...and if I know I am will be gone for more than 5 minutes.

....But...but...your sticker says top ALWAYS down...

drive top down, park top down.

My car sits at LAX for the week top down, I just park it in the covered structure. Being comfortable with the top down comes from driving only convertibles for 36 years, always top down. Only if its pouring down rain does the top go up, yes my S has been rained into because I parked it top down and it was not raining when i parked it, it dries out, not a big deal.

I used to always close the top when parked, but a few weeks ago my top got slashed. So now, if I am going to be gone for less than 20 minutes, I just leave it down. If someone wants to wreck your car or steal something, a softtop isnt going to stop them (for very long, at least)

depends for how long......UV can do so serious damage and unnecessary dust. I prefer top up unless its a nice cool day or highway driving. if i had a choice i would buy coupe, not vert.

I can use this advice. The last 2 years I owned my 01 S2K, I parked it with top down all the time, as long as weather permitted, and I was close by of course. I got over the worry over time. Now with my 06, I simply am still too paranoid to do it unless I can see it. It has to do with where I live now, and the fact that my beater civic was stolen right in front of my apartment in broad daylight. Of course like you said, the soft top won't save you for very long, and it's just another thing that gets ruined.

I made the retarded decision of removing my soft-top.... so if I'm going topless, I'm committing.
