Parking in gear

Right, I always use the hand brake too unless the vehicle is being stored for an extended period of time or when I just washed the car (don't want the pads to stick to the rotor). Always use both in the event that one fails you have a little insurance.

I always put it in gear now and only use the e-break when parking for short periods of time. I left the e-brake on for 3 weeks recently while parked at the airport and the pads got fused to the rotors because of rust build up (gotta love these cheap ass rotors ) Had to bang on the calipers repeatedly to break them loose.

I was told that if you are parked on an incline, you should have the car in reverse, along with the parking brake engaged and the wheels cranked opposing the curb as an added precaution. If you have your car in 1st gear on an incline and you get hit from the front causing you to roll backward considerably, you can damage 1st gear...so I was told from a mechanic anyway
