Default Partial Throttle Whistle

When under partial throttle and accelerating my car has a whistling noise coming from it. Its a very high pitched screetch almost. It only happens at partial throttle, and accelerating. While cruising, or at WOT it doesnt do it. Any ideas?

Air filter. Does it go away at higher rpms?

More noticeable with a K&N unit.

Nothing to worry about.

Is it a humming (mechanical) or a whistling (air)?

Here's a tutorial that may help: STUPID ASS LINK REMOVED.

Keep it up Alex.

Alex, I think you linked me your homepage on accident, try again.

Its not a humm, defintaly higher pitched without variation. It happens even at 2500 rpm, maybe lower, and seems to still be there throughout the rpm range.

I have a Comptech CAI, and it was there before I installed that.

It doesnt seem to be coming from the shifter, but more like it radiates from the entire car. I will listen to it tomarrow again and get some more details.

It's just a whilstling noise created from the butterly valve on your throttle body. Since it's trying to suck in a bunch of air from a small area, it makes a whistling sound.

Try this out for example. Pucker your lips and try to whistle but by sucking in air. Go from a really tiny tiny gap between your lips to WOM (wide open mouth ). You'll notice that it makes a whistling sound only when the gap is a certain amount not less not more. If you dont get any whistle at all....stop sucking on lemon .

SSS2k,

I had exactly the same problem as described in this thread and my car is currently still bone stock.
