Default Passenger Airbag Disarm

I am on the verge of purchasing a S2000 and evaluating having an Airbag disarm switch installed. The process is discribed on the attached U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.

http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/airbags/

I have 2 kids who would ride occasionally, the switch would make the car practical enough. Unlike the Audi TT and some 2 seaters, the S2000 does not come equiped with such a switch and I have not found a Honda dealer who will do the operation.

Has anyone out there had the switch installed?

I have had an airbag disable switch installed by a Honda technician at a Honda dealership in Edmonton, Canada. All the hardware was sent to the dealership from Honda Canada. This was after signing a bunch of documents with Honda Canada and Transport Canada. Thanks goes out to itr-Gary from Edmonton who did the install.

This switch and the display looks very professional. PM me if you want more details.

Now, my six year old son rides with me all the time as he enjoys my car as much as I do.

I have pics. However, I just tried to post them but I get the code 403: access denied.

I will try to sort this out tomorrow and post it.(its getting late!)

If not, email me and I can send you the pics via email address.

The top pict is clearly in the hidden compartment. Is the bottom one on the dashboard in the passenger corner of the windshield? I'd have to see it zoomed out a bit.

I was told the light goes on the headliner, between the two sun visors. I guess we'll see!

Thanks!

Not sure, I just posted what he sent me. It looks like it's in the passenger corner next to the pillar by the windshield. Personally, I wouldn't want it there unless it was color matched to the dash.

Good morning Guys!

Sorry I couldn't respond as it was getting late. HondaGal confirmed that many photo albums are affected currently, me being of of them.

Any ways, 3engin33r1, is correct. The indicator is on the dashboard in the passenger corner of the windshield. From what I understand, this indicator MUST be in direct visible view by any passenger for liability reasons. If it is in the headliner, the passenger may not see it (i.e. how often do we look there when we enter a unfamilar car?). I'm not sure of the legal ramifications so anyone with ideas can fill me in.

I suspect running a wire to the headliner would also make in more of a challege to hid the wire.

Any ways, I am willing to put up with this indicator if it means I will not have a airbag going off when I am driving with my son.
