I had them made when I had my front bumper resprayed. They are $.89 Nissan Interior fasteners from Lowes.

Yes, this is exactly it, and yes i can lock and unlock from the passanger door inside,

I can live with it, but is it going to make any damage from water getting inside?

I should probably call honda and see what the deal is?

I'm sure they forgot to install it, I dont' think the lock cylinder just falls out
What is probably more concerning is that anyone can reach in your "hole" from the outside and open your "locked" door.

Things are going to rust inside.

Did you buy a used car? Because I'm sure that Honda "didn't forget to install it." It wouldn't have made it past initial inspections and the dealership wouldn't have been able to sell it like that.

If used, the previous owner probably had it removed. Maybe because of damage / vandalism.

You really didn't notice that there was a gaping hole in the passenger side door? Maybe someone recently vandalized it. The lock may be sitting inside the door. You can remove the inner door panel and find out.
