Default People sitting on your car?

Here's my rant... I get off work and go out to my car only to see a guy sitting his kid on my front fender to tie his shoes. From a distance, I get pissed and press the panic button. Both the guy and the kid were startled and the kid jumps down. Now this fool sees me and has the audacity to yell at me for "scaring a child". Not wanting to escalate things in front of a kid, I just told him to respect my property and drive off... Can't help but get pissed thinking about it. How do you guys react when random strangers sit/lean on your car?

What you did was pretty dickish to a kid. If it were an adult only I would have, but with a kid I would have just asked them to get off - don't even have to be nice about it.

But yes, in general there's no reason for someone to ever touch another person's vehicle, let alone sit on it. Disrespectful. Once at a house party I came out and saw a guy sitting on my c/f hood, I was not pleased at all and I let him know it.

I thought the OP stayed pretty calm; I would have not been so nice. I feel worse for the kid considering the parent is a dumb sh!t. The parent should think about how their decisions will affect the kid. In this case, don't put a child on someone's car (as it's not a bench) and a pissed off car owner won't do anything to scare you off.

OP needs train horns.

Someone placed a purse or something on my hood and scratched my clearcoat... was not happy when I saw it while waxing.

Wouldn't care if it's dick-ish or honestly. I hate when someone abuses my property kid or not. It's not like i hit the kid or something, he won't remember it the next day, what he will remember is don't sit on people's car

I think I would have approached the guy the same way I would a child. It might have even pissed him off more to be treated this way, but it's not like he can do anything but agree.

Example:
"It's not nice and it's very bad manners to touch things that don't belong to you. I don't sit on your car, so don't do that to mine. This is a perfect opportunity to teach your child how to be respectful of other people's property."

(oh, and the kid jumping down suddenly because of being startled is likely to cause *more* damage to the car than if the parent picks him up to get him off the car.)

If the kid wouldn't remember it the next day, then going through the process of startling him off the car would achieve no purpose other than to make you feel somehow "good" by startling him.

The parent was at fault and is the one who should have been being addressed.

i used to do the whole, walk up. "Wow, nice car." Then open the doors.... Its nice when they say, "thanks". though with my paper mache honda, i'd prob follow up with hold on, and inspect the car. If I see a dent or scratch i'm not sure what i would do... Double homicide and hide the bodies or, try and get the father to pay on the spot. Calling cops would lower the value of the automobile. Shitty predicament.

over kill. yeah. but nothing boils my blood more than seeing someone touch my car. I spend countless hours detailing every f@#king swirl outta the paint, I only park in corner spots, or end of the block spots. I will pass endless "good" spots looking for that "perfect" one. So when I see something like that. Someone with no respect or appreciation of others belongings, it sends me off the deepend.
