Unleast you are not using the car for racing,
where every pound can make a difference the only weight saving that you will really notice is installing lighter wheels than stock.
We just sold to a customer these weight saving parts;
-4 Spoon wheels ,weigth saved 16.8 kg
-Spoon exhaust , " " 10.5 kg
-Spoon headers , " " 3.8 kg
-Spoon battery , " " 3.5 kg
-Spoon battery clamp" " 0.6 kg
-Spoon plug head cover " " 0.23kg
-Spoon wheels nut " " 0.16kg
-1 Spoon seat , " " 20.5 kg
As you can see is not really easy to shave weight,at least if you want to keep the car with a certain level of comfort.

Regarding weight savings, this is an excellent way to improve performance. Less mass for the tires to get around turns, better acceleration. Porsche occasionally comes out with limited edition sport models that forgo ac, sound insulation, electric windows lifts, etc. Charges more for this Porsche that has less of these things as well.

Shelby would acid dip his car bodies before races to save a lot of weight without the tech evaluators finding out. I think Shelby switched acid dipped/nondipped cars to help the deception as well. (Read in R&T long time ago).

Replacing bushings is commonly done to improve handling. The rubber bushings are generally replaced with urethane ones to improve steering response and accuracy.

cthree, I think you need a new scale. The stock wheels have be reported by many to be in the 18 - 20 lb. range.

Mercedes back in the 40's raced their "Silver Arrows in F-1. The bodies were polished aluminum instead of painted to save weight.

That is fanatical!

I think somebody should do it properly. No doubt my scale is off, it is a bathroom scale and it makes a big difference how the weight is distributed. I lifted an unopened bag of potting soil rated at 30lbs on the bag. Based on that I would say I'm not far off. The tire/wheel combo on the scale without me shows 45lbs but it is definately a bit lighter than the soil bag. The scale's error will be most extreme at the ends and less so in the middle. I tryed to talk my wife into it but no dice.

We have a shipping scale at work. I will bring in the tire and wheel tomorrow and weigh it there. That will give me some indication of how off my measurements are.

FYI: The shipping label in the two S02PP's shows 51 lbs.

If you let out all the air in your tires and replaced it with helium....
