Performance numbers Below VTEC
Anyone timed the s2000 0-60 and/or in the 1/4 mile without going into VTEC? In other words, shifting at 6K.
Kind of an odd thing to think about, but with people complaining about no low end torque, slow until VTEC, etc., I was curious how the car performs if 6-9K were not available. Does it run 8 seconds 0-60, 17.0 1/4 mile?
I'm considering racing my wife in her Jetta VR6 with me shifting the S at 6K...will I keep up or be smoked?
I know just thinking about this is blasphemy, but I thought it'd be an interesting topic for discussion.

Some magazine made some comment about 11 sec and got a lot of airplay on the net. I think it is total BS.
I don't have one to test, but my homebrew performance model predicts mid-8's and mid-16's for 0-60 & 1/4 respectively. Of course, depending on how hard you launch. BTW, it predicts ~5.9/14.4 sec with clutch slip high rpm, full VTEC launch. If you try it out, let me know if I'm close!
I'm afraid the VR6 will blow you away.

11 secs sounds right to me - it probably takes even longer.
If you just do a normal below VTEC start and still use all 9k revs then you are up around 8 secs (yes, I've tested it with a G-tech) so limiting to under VTEC for the whole time means you are having to use 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears - bloody slow!
