i have also let my new german shepherd pup ride in my S. he likes it only when the top is down...guess he thinks it is too cramped with it up. as before though, i always put a towel down on the seat.

I built a plug for the floor in front of the passenger seat to bring it up to the height of the seat cushion...
... with an attached cover that protected the seat cushion too.

Cleo (65lbs) loved riding around.

easy to remove for a human passenger too - it fit in the trunk.
she liked the S better than the girlfriend anyway

With a towel covering the entire seat, sure. My 45 lb Pit Bull Terrier rides along. I would never leave him in the car unattended though...he loves chewing leather items!

Yeah, same thing here. My older dog would love to ride around in all my previous cars. But would always sit in the back seat. In the S, she was very uncomfortable and anxious in the front seat. Our new dog, only about 5 months old, loved the front seat.

But please guys, don't let your dog ride in your lap. It is incredibly dangerous in an emergency situation, and it's not fair to your dog or others if they get seriously hurt or die.

A little side topic. In my younger days circa 1970, pre-nuptuals, I was riding my new 240Z north in Pennsyl-tucky and blew by another 240Z with Maine tags driving south.
A quick glance disclosed 2 blonds in the car and I couldn't resist the bait.
I pullled a quick "U" caught up, passed them for a better look.
One WAS a gorgeous blond but the other was a light tan Afghan Hound.
From the rear, I'd swear they were twins.
A riot! She pulled over and we chatted for a while. She and the dog were heading to Maryland from Maine.

My dachshund has puked in my S2000 before, well it was mostly on my leg but still...

It's easy to unbolt the seats and if you have a good steam cleaner, no problem. Oh yeah if he drools on the dash wipe it off before it drys cause it will leave stains.
