Pinging while going uphill

Hi Integrale:
I beg to disagree with you.
Going uphill (steep) with relatively low RPMs induces Low Speed Knock, which is essencially different from the High Speed Knock you are describing.
High speed knock is in fact far more dangerous and also NOT NOTICABLE for the driver; however our cars specifically are equipped with a special Knock Sensor, to eliminate the latter. Our cars can be run safely on 91 or even lower octane fuel, but it is not recommended because of decrease of engine performance. The knock sensor will than adjust the ignition timing advance a little later.
The only remedy for the earlier mentioned LOW Speed Knock is literally to Speed Up the engine(and preferably use higher octane fuel). Seriously!!

Siepel
