I don't have my car yet, but what is the size of the head unit. What will fit.
Also I was looking through a crutchfield this weekend and saw a head unit from both kenwood and aiwa (little confidence in either) that were capable of playing mp3's from cd-r/cd-wr. The aiwa was cheap, less than 300$ the kenwood was almost 700. I don't have the model number with me. I'll get the model #'s and specifics but would love to hear your thoughts on these, or a suggestion of a head unit that can read mp3 cd's. The aiwa was obviously of low quality compared to the specs of the kenwood. But even the kenwood was mediocer to some of the premier head units.
Thanks

I thought there was an emergency! Geez! Like there was smoke comming from your radio or something.
Ok headunits. What will fit? Any DIN sized opening. As for the MP3 players I can get them but will not sell them. Reason being is that they have not proven themselves yet and I really don't want to get in the middle of it breaking. Though if your willing to take the chances and have a agreement that any repairs or problems that you will take them up with Kenwood I could sell it.
I just know my boss isnt all that thrilled about them and hence has a problem selling them. On top of all that when I last tried to get one it was like next to impossible! We called about 15 distributors to get them. So there would be like no break in the cost over what Crutchfield could do.
That all said if your willing to try I can look into it. Otherwise pick it up from Crutchfield and send the harness to me and I will wire in the mod if all else fails.
I will be here if you have more questions or comments. Hell let the flames begin!

As far as I know only AWIA and Kenwood are the only ones that make MP3's. CD-R's are supported my like every manufacturer.

Pinky,
I'm curious as to why you think the MP3 players are as trustworthy as any other CD player? They use the same general type of mechanism, but just use the data in a different manner...

Well as an update I contacted my shop and they said we can get the Kenwoods but still dont like selling them because of the high break down rate though if thats what you really want then by all means place your order! They havent recalled the line so it must be doing ok.
The reason I dont trust them yet is because:
1. Its Kenwood
2. Its brand new first year like our S2000.
Though unlike our S2000 the manufacturer does not have A1 quality rating in MY book.
I would assume next year or the following year we will see Alpine/Clarion and Pioneer comming out with MP3 players. Once they have worked the bugs out of them. I am not worried about the mechanical aspect of the players its the software that im concerned about.
That being said im not a programmer so I dont know whats involved in decompressing MP3 files. How easy or hard it is or if there are any inherent bugs in the system.
HTH.

Don't overlook the Neo 35.
It's a separate unit that you would plug into the AUX port on an aftermarket head unit.
It uses a hard drive rather than an CD and the whole unit slides out of your car and into you PC drive slot. You can literally have thousands and thousands of hours of songs on it.
Wesmaster did a great install recently, and I received mine today and will be installing on the weekend.
You can see some details here http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...hp?threadid=404
