Fellow Enthusiasts,

I thought I might post a few photos and impressions on my Pinnacle Brake System after reaching 8,000 miles of daily use, and 5 AutoXs. I have not needed a pad change, and the rotors and hats have remained straight and true. These photos were taken this morning. My stock rotors were always covered in rust in the morning after being wet the following evening (this comes off upon initial braking, but it is still a great eye sore). My car is parked outside, no garage, and hasn't been washed in about two weeks (still in a water shortage situation around here). You can see minimal dusting from the 'hot-street' pads that I use for my daily driving. Performance has been excellent in my use including Autoxing with no noticeable fade.

BTW. Brad has made a deal to offer lower prices for our brake pads. I think we need to have 10 more sets to confirm the lower pricing.

We will also be installing a Braking System at Fall Colors!

Questions? Ask away.

Comparing to the stock brakes, do you find you stop in a shorter distance, or merely the same distance but with less fade over time?

Has anyone performed non-biased/3rd party, empirical testing on a stock system versus the Pinacle system?

There are similar rotors to these that have been available for sportbikes - benefit is weight reduction. I'm sure there's more to it than that for our S. I've seen them in person on Rick's car and just from a cosmetic standpoint, they're excellent. I didn't get to ask him any questions about them though.

How much? Is it possible for these rotors to warp? And if so, can they be turned?....I'm thinking no.

What people have to realize is the Wave style rotors are a RACING part , designed to be used on the race track ( this is not some type of design element , to sell brakes ) . We worked on this design to reduce the rear rotor weight and improve cooling of the one piece solid cast iron stock rotor . We manufacture the lightest Big Brake Kit for the S-2000 , and this kit uses all racing pieces . This kit has been tested on the race track !!!! The steel Wave rotor can stand up to more abuse than the cast rotors they replace . Our track testing has shown that the rear wave rotor ,matched with our directional racing cast rotor, to be fade free on the race track .
James and Rick liked the design of the Wave rotor and we built Wave rotors for the front of their street driven cars . These rotors will handle any thing that some one would encounter under any street driving situation ( including sprints down mountain roads or any autocross event , or track day) The advantage to this design on the street is reduced weight . ( and LOOKS) .
The steel rotor can be resurfaced by Blanchard grinding , when finished ,ground part will be the same as new. The design and the thermal treating that this rotor receives make warping a very limited possibility . These rotors have been used on the track until they glow red and are still flat after they cool . ( We have not encountered any application that we designed , that has these rotors running even close to these temperatures)
Davepk and prolene have the rear rotors on their cars , both use them heavily on the track , I am sure that Dave must have over 2,000 track miles on his rear Wave rotors , They have not been resurfaced that I know of .

They look excellent. I'd be in but want to stay in "B-Stock".

Do you keep the stock rear calipers with this setup?

Yes. Brad will explain further if clarification on this point is necessary.
