Has anyone tried to install a piston hood lifter? I have always thought it was a better and more classy way to open the hood. Also, some company has a carbon fiber hood available on ebay. Right now $400 and no reserve.

Could this interfere with the closing of the hood? Seems like you've got to drop that puppy from about 2 feet to get it to latch.

The hood is so light on its own, I don't see the need for it. When other people open it, they're always so surprised - and impressed. Plus, MJMSC's right - you'd have to push on the hood to get it to latch and as early owners discovered you'd most likely end up bending it.

If you setup the geometry correctly, the gas cylinder pops past center as you close the hood and the "drop" will still be the preferred closing method.
Come to think of it, isn't the "drop" the normal closing method for every hood this side of a '68 GTO? Gas cylinder or not?
You going to try something JPit? Let us know!
