So I got my NRG hood dampers today. After installing them (very easy) I tried to close my hood and it wouldn't shut :-( So I noticed that one of the dampers wasn't screwed in all the way. When you get them, you screw the two parts together the make the fully assembled damper as seen below. This is not my car BTW



So I took that one back off and it wouldn't screw all the way closed. I think the female part of it wasn't threaded far enough or something. So I took the male end and a dremel and filed little by little off the screw until it fit snug. After that they work perfectly!

 

How far does your hood open? Mine is only about the same (or a little less than the hood prop.

 

Mine opens almost vertically!

Hood dampers FTW! Makes working on the engine bay easier and no prop rod to get in the way.

 

mines also opens almost completely vertical.

 

I have the carbon fiber NRG hood dampers and really like them, mine open the hood almost vertically.
