i remember seeing a post of some kind that mentioned a method of preventing the rear plastic window from creasing when the top is left down for a long period of time. I think it had something to do with a poster container or something. can any of you help me out with this method?

I bought a padded tube for a Miata for this purpose. I don't recall the site now but there have been recent diuscussions here about the same sort of device - do a search.

I know that other ragtop users just place a soft folded towel in the window area to reduce the sharp bend.
Don't know what it would do to the top mechanism fold height though.

 

A towel works similar to the tube, just a little more inconvienent but both work.

You can also use one of those swim noodles, just wrap it in felt or something similar. (Got the Idea from Clovis.)
