I'm guessing the difference is in looks/being sure of precision cutting...btw, the mat and tube/towel/static cling serve different purposes...if you want to protect the inside and outside of your plastic, you'd need one of each (Mat or towel inside *and* tube, towel, or static cling outside)

You'll find the majority of damage happens to the inside of the window. I also sell tubes (proper rubber ones with a velour outer covering). These are mainly to help prevent creases when lowering the roof.

I bought some box carpeting from a local stereo install shop and used that to line the roofwell, static cling on the outside of the window and that is all I needed.

Here's a pic after I removed the static cling tint to see how well it protected.. see for yourself..

WOW, looks great!

Does the static cling tint come in a roll or flat? I'm assuming it's clear? (duh). If so, do you have the dimensions for the cutout? If not, no prob....you might as well just give me yours!! lol

My car only has only 3.4K miles and I noticed the scratches when I had the top up driving at night!! Can I get some of those scratches out with Plexus or Meguiars?

If you get the cling from an auto store, there's enough to do 2 standard size side car windows. From a hardware store, you can probably get it by the roll.
Start with the Meguiars plastic polish to get rid of most of the scratches and then use the Plexus to shine it up before putting the cling on.
Get someone to help you with the sizing. Lay out a large piece of aluminum foil onto the back window and while it's being held, trace the outline (with your finger) of the window onto the foil, cut out the foil, then use it as a template for the cling.

I bought mine as a roll. I got the dark tint, 20%.

You actually do not need to use foil, just trace the outline of the window on the paper side of the tint, then cut it.. much easier imo.

And make sure you THOROUGLY clean the rear window, you do not want dust trapped behind the tint once it's applied.

A roll from Kragen auto cost me 10 bux.

The Kragen I went to only had one type of static cling tint but any brand will be fine.
