Please advise, Considering buying this s2000. 2008 chicane silver
So I was all set to make my offer and buy it. Was going to go up to 8k. But his son is driving now and he's going to hold off on selling it.
No offense to any young people, but I don't feel comfortable buying a car that a kid has been driving. Especially as his first car. Oh well.
It's probably a good thing. Considering the way these cars are appreciating, I don't think I want a salvage title one.
I looked on FB markertplace and the prices there seem a little more real world. I know craigslist ads are inflated to compensate for the lowball. At 8k I can spend more for a clean title.
My preferance has always been towards a black AP1 as well.

Yea, Something is off. I think he's just using that as an excuse to not sell it to me though. He committed 8k to me and probably wants more.
I have a friend who lives just next door to him and he told me: "It's parked there all day."
Plus the tires are bald so you would not let your son drive that.
I guess that's where the non car guy aspects comes in.

- Car is super tire sensitive
- Car is super alignment sensitive
- Does your "non-car guy" know the tires are done
- Does he know how twitchy and snappy the car is?
- Does he know the gates on the shifter are really close to one another and it's easy to misshift (possible kaboom)
Hence, that's why I think handing the keys of the S2000 to a kid means imminent boom.
When the S2000 came out when I was in high school, a few of my buddies and their rich ass parents bought them the car. Within 6-12 months, almost all of them wrapped the car around a pole or blew up a motor and/or transmission. Just saying.

I was serious about my post, in regards to handing the keys to the S2000 as their first car. I'm almost 100% certain that the kid knows little about the car, but would your "non-car guy" friend knows about these characteristics of the S2000:
- Car is super tire sensitive
- Car is super alignment sensitive
- Does your "non-car guy" know the tires are done
- Does he know how twitchy and snappy the car is?
- Does he know the gates on the shifter are really close to one another and it's easy to misshift (possible kaboom)

I honestly doubt he's letting his kid drive it, his daughter has been driving for 3 years and wrecked three cars already. As in totaled, not fender benders. So he expressed his concern to me and wanted advice on a safe low powered car for his son. I think I said an FRS haha.
I feel he's optimistic he can sell it for more. And that's why he told me that.
I don't know about all that stuff but I know he knows the tires are done.
