Is the Plug recall that important?
I'm going out of town this weekend about a 500 mile drive, I know that this is a somewhat a big deal about getting this recall done, however I can't get it done till I get back. What do I need to do to be safe if I drive without getting this recall done. To my understanding all they do is replace the spark plugs and toque them down to 18lbs. If I go out and buy a torque wrench from sears or so and torque my plugs down to 18lb, I should be good right? Then when I get back I'll have the honda dealer do this recall, or I can do it myself. What are your thoughts?
we've known about this recall for monthes and many of us just torqued the plug to 18# for now to wait for the parts. I am sure if you tighen the plugs (or actually just check that they are not loose) you can make your trip and return to do the service.
I just had mine done and, not only did they replace the plugs, but they replaced it with a different plug (new part number). They also give you update stickers for you to put in your manual to show the change in spark plug part number as well as the different torque setting. I would just take it as easy as possible and get it done as soon as you get back. You may tighten your original plugs too much and then you'll really be in trouble.
They give you two spark plug part numbers and the ft/lbs. of torque that you use to tighten them down to (18 ft/lb.).
Check your manual to see if the dealer applied the stickers. If no stickers, request them so you can put them in yourself.

It's only important if you have a S2000, that's why they sent you the notice. If it wasn't important, Honda wouldn't have spent the money to send all of us the paper. They are trying to avoid having to pay for our new engines when they blow up or melt down.
love it my dealer told me that this only prevents the check engine light from comming on.. oh really i thought the engine could blow up because the plugs could come lose and be sucked into the #4 cylinder.. "where did you hear that" "s2ki.com and you forgot the stickers..
moral of the story ** don't listen to the dealer
