I went out to a CarAudio store and listened to various brands of 6 1/2 speakers to replace my current '01 stock speakers.

Of the 5 or 6 different brand names:
The best sound, and this is only my personal opinion, was produced by the Polk EX-365's

I visited www.PolkAudio.com and found that there is another, yet higher model.
The dX6 costs more but has only 40w or continuous power vs 60w of the EX series.
Peak is also lower at 130w vs 180w.

Being a Audio novice I don't know the PRO's and CON's of the specs.
Please help me choose the speakers that would BEST fit the stock '01 head unit.
Will I have to CUT much to fit the speakers?

Install dimensions are:..............EX365........................... .........dX6
Driver Mounting Depth
Top mount..............................2-1/16" (5.24cm)....................2-9/16" (6.51cm)
Bottom mount.........................2-5/16" (5.87cm)....................3-1/8" (7.94cm)
Grille
Height.....................................9/16" (1.43cm).......................1-1/8" (2.86cm)
Diameter.................................6-1/2" (16.51cm)....................7-3/8" (18.73cm)
Driver Cut Out Diameter..........5-1/4" (13.34cm)....................5-1563/10000" (13.10cm)

Also would like to know if I need to purchase additional hardware to install these.

My plans are to keep the stock unit and only change the door panel speakers.
I don't want to add amps or extra tweeters/bass, etc.

I checked prices and I can get either set for about the same.

Please help.

Did you need any special plug or adapter?
Did they fit in perfectly or did you have to cut to make space.?

The 602a and the 365 will drop in fit the basket. The only adapter needed is the speaker to OEM harness which is the same used on all hondas. I carry the polk line.

i have the dx-6. they are powered by a small mtx thunder 152 that was installed in the tool tray. i'm not an audiophile but when comparing them with infinity kappas they seemed to have a bit more bass. if i remember correctly i purchased them on e-bay for $110. i also had to cut the speaker baskets and use the adapters described by lucid.
