Default Poll - Do you use a radar detector???

Do you use a radar detector and if so what kind??
I have an old Valentine One, that I've had for quite a few years, still works great, but I need to send it in and get the laser upgrade!

Japanese version with GPS, radar and laser detector ..... also a system that tells you if there is a police car within 500m (but that doesn't seem to work too well).

When I got stopped for speeding (I didn't have it turned on at the time) it was stuck to my windshield, and the cop didn't even mention it ....

I have one but I usually don't use it. It goes off too much unreasonably and I find it slows me down more than it helps because with out it I may keep a lower overall speed, but I can keep it constant whereas with a radar I'm up and down up and down. It has too much false positive signal.

I only tend to use it on the highway, since in town it gives loads of false calls ... which is why I had it turned off when I got stopped

These are illegal in most australian states now
If you are caught with one I think the penalty is getting it taken off you and fined $1000.

Passport 8500. Saved me this afternoon on a two-lane highway. Cop was using constant on K band and we had warning miles ahead...

I try to use one every day. They have saved my ass more then once. I bought a cordless once and the only issue I have is it goes dead very fast. Other then that, it is some generic brand off e-bay.

I'm looking at getting a hardwired radar detector....any ideas on those?
