Only two real choices - Passport 8500 or V1. Both of them work well... I think the Passport is a little better at rejecting falses but the arrow indicators on the V1 are handy so in a way it came down to the $$$ for me.

Basically it was $400 vs. $250. Having had a fair amount of time with both units before I purchased... I didn't see the $150 difference.

I'm fairly certain that the CHP doesn't use radars for some reason, so I don't have one. I can usually spot a cop though, and I drive pretty fast.

Driving a car that has better numbers than the cop's Crown Vic + him chasing me when he's stopped and i'm going 90 + my maneauvering like mad around moderate to heavy LA traffic + people slowing down around the cop while he's trying to maneauver around them to get to me = I have never received a ticket.

Doesn't mean that no one use it.
The Australian makes the best radar detector. It's the first one in the world that is Stalkar proof. Guess who made the Stalkar (which is being used in Canada and some USA state)? That's right..... Australia.

The best laser detector/jammer is the Escort.

I had an 8500 and recently switched to their stealth system (SR7). The verdict is still out. From the tests I've seen, I'll give up a little K band sensitivity and gain a little KA. I haven't found a speed trap in two weeks though. When you're looking for them, they're no where to be found.
