Poll: Multi-color windscreen lights with brake and reverse
Jeff,
If it turns out that the colored LEDs don't look white when used together, I can always substitute true white LEDs in if you really want the white over the colors.
Speaking of LEDs, you need to get me some info on the cellphone deal we were talking about. I've got the time and expertise, if you have the clients.

MacGyver,
I'll look into it and the feasibility of incorporating it into this application. I'll try to get into the computer engineering lab here at school and mess around with a few things for awhile in the next couple of days. I'll let you know what i come up with when you come back. Good luck on the defense.

I'd like one of these too. Do I need to get a larger windblocker, or will stock work? Also, can a dummy install this? I mean, somebody that is very dumb, such as myself? How much and when is it to be ready for purchase? Sorry if those questions have been asked above, but I tried looking in previous post to this thread and didn't see that info. Granted, I didn't read the whole thread, it's too big!
Size doesn't matter (yeah, tell that to my girlfriend
)...you can use the stock screen or an aftermarket, like Rick's. I will look for a local etcher, but I make no promises whatsoever on the extra cost involved in doing this. I will ask them what graphics format custom designs should be in.
While SOME may feel confident enough to install this by themselves, I seriously suggest against it. I've opened multiple windscreen mechanisms, but to the newbie that can be scary all by itself. The LEDs have to be positioned "just so" and glued into place. The wires need to be run in some tight places and glued, as well, to keep them out of the way. I also cannot easilt solder things together without having the windscreen to work with for length measurements, etc. (I don't want to set up wiring jigs...they take time to set up and are useless for anything else) If enough people ask, I'll make it available as a kit, but I will also ignore any emails/PMs requesting a refund because it doesn't look right. I have to protect myself.
For those currently without windscreens, I may be able to order them myself and ship it out directly...this would avoid multiple shipping costs and delays. Same with Rick's screens...you could have them shipped directly here for installation with the LEDs.

mwy: I was originally in the all-classes degree route, then an opportunity to work on some really cool stuff came up and I couldn't pass it up. So, I switched to the thesis option...and promptly added on over 3 years to my student career
I should have stayed in the all-class direction, but hindsight being what it is...
To anyone who cares: I PASSED MY DEFENSE!!!!! There were some interesting questions, but after about a 45-minute presentation, they came back out and congratulated me on a job well done. I won't officially graduate until August, but as far as I'm aware everything is finished, paperwork and all. I need a SERIOUSLY large beer
I will start work on the project again tonight, maybe get a few pics, as well. g-s2k gave me his broken tinted screen, so if you can ignore the huge crack through the middle of it, I will hopefully get some pics with the tinted version.
GT-S2000: If you plan on offering a circuit idea, I would suggest doing so in the next few days.
