Type V steering is 1.4 turns lock to lock compared to 2.4 turns lock to lock of the current series. It also has a sexy F1 truncated-bottom type steering wheel.

With only 1.4 turns lock to lock, it would seem that the steering would be too sensitive for the street, especially highway driving. Now, for the track, that's a different story - the steering response is probably awesome!

I would trade for the Type V. I like all the features that are different about it: dark blue paint, faster steering, different steering wheel, etc.

dbarnes,

My understanding is that it isn't 1.4 locks turn-to-turn all the time (V for Variable). It remains 2.4 until it is called upon to go to a faster (1.4) ratio.....like an emergency lane change maneuver or something

VA S2k,

Are you suggesting that the steering rack has some sort of gearbox to alter the number of turns lock to lock (i.e., alter the steering ratio)? Also, it seems like it would be very dangerous to have a sudden change in your steering ratio because that would most likely result in an oversteer condition, especially during an emergency lane change maneuver.

Actually I think the system is always 1.4 turns lock to lock but it is simple faster the farther you turn. So for small adjustments (the first 20% from center) like on the highway it is just like our car but for larger adjustments (> 20%) like in a parking lot or grabbing opposite lock when sliding it the ratio that the wheel turns increases.

It is 1.4 turns lock-to-lock always.

The stearing ratio changes with speed and car lean, not with the amount you turn the wheel.

check out Honda Japan's site or vtec.net

There is plenty of correct info to be had.
