Default Possible to have the Dealer reflash the ECU?

I have been reading around about swapping a MY03 ECU into my MY01. Is it possible to just have the dealer updated the flash to the A03 program? The reason I ask is, it appears that the 00-03 ECU's have the same part number but the tunes have been changed in the different model years. Instead of buying a whole new ECU, when mine is in perfect condition, I would rather just have it reflashed. Anyone know if this is possible?

No, If it was that easy It'd have been done before. But, the reason that the part number is the same could be the the dealer sells the 03 ecu to all ap1 owners.
Compare the part number on your ECU to what's available.

I wonder... I know AAA has EASE updates for its members and their cars - its involves looking at the ECU version and if there's an update, AAA can do it for free, since most dealerships really don't publicize ECU upgrades, they just do them when necessary, or so I've read.

I don't think that you can reflash the ECU in an AP1, I think that the programming is written in ROM. Not sure when the AP2 got an ECU that could be reflashed (I think MY06) not sure though.

Thanks for the input guys. Anyone know of a good place to obtain an MY03 ECU for a reasonable price? I have searched around ebay and the for sale forum here.

So you have to have the vin number off of the car the ecu came out of? What is this used for?

You need to have your key's rfid code matched to the ecu...it is a security measure. I would imagine you need the ecu vin so the dealer can pull the code for the key.
