for me, the key is only for putting in the ignition...
I think that's what he's talking about. I scratched my dash/speedo console one night by NOT doing what he recommends.

I'm pretty new at this... only had my S2000 for a month now. But here is what I've learned so far.

1) When unlatching the top from the driver seat I found that doing the driver side first and the passenger one second led to a problem. With one latch off and the other one just released the roof springs upward just enough that you have to pull the top down in order to fully release the second latch. It is much easier from the driver seat to pull down the driver side of the roof. So now when releasing I start with the passenger side... and finish with the driver side.

2) As an amatuer photographer I had a spare "lens cloth" laying around. I found that it fits very conveniently behind the bungee in the glovebox and it's extra delicate when wiping dust off of the instrument cluster. It also works nice to quick dust the dashboard. The lens cloth is about 10"x10" and grey in color. Super soft. Any camera shop should have them for pretty cheap.

3) The S2000 is like no other car I've driven. Especially in the sounds and noise department. In the past month I think I've freaked out more times than I could count. The gear noise, the engine noise, the top noise... aka wind noise. After all is said and done... you start to enjoy the sounds and noises. It's a lot like my Ducati motorcycle. That think makes a racket and sounds like it's about to throw a rod at any minute. But it's completely normal.

4) I didn't do this but I think the previous owner did. To thwart antenna theft I believe they put a few dots of superglue around the outside of the mast threads. I cannot unscrew it now. And even if you use drive through car-washes (shame on you) you shouldn't ever need to remove your antenna mast?

5) I never smoke in my S2000 but I am a smoker. I found that the "change holder?" directly behind the cup holder fits a normal pack of smokes just perfect. Keeps them out of you shifting arms way, out of the wind vortex'es grasp, and out of your pocket so they don't get crushed. Note that this doesn't work if you smoke 100's.

[QUOTE=Ravenwerk,Jul 14 2004, 05:05 PM] Also, to keep fingerprints off the paint and glass I have found that placing my fingers on the black trim at the top of the door is the best place to use when closing the door.

I do both at the same time.

I don't want that top to have any kind of lateral flex/stretch.

[QUOTE=tritium_pie,Aug 14 2003, 11:02 PM]somebody once posted that it's better to park next to 4-doors if you need to park next to a car, since their doors are shorter and less likely to ding your car.

Keep a small tube of sunscreen in the secret compartment. You never know when what was supposed to be a short drive to eat lunch somewhere turns into a few hours on a great day driving with the top down laughing about the people who are back at the office.

I use to own an FD (RX7) and always carried zipties in the trunk. I'm not sure how handy they'd be on an S2K... but for the FD... they were useful as many things would come lose and need fastening (at least in my FD).

I keep zipties in the trunk, as well as 3 road flares, 2 cans of Fix-a-Flat, 1 tire repair kit and a partridge in a pear tree.
