Potential Dogbox for the S2k
They aren't taking me the opposite direction from where I want to go. The change in secondary reduction would reduce my top speed but, give me more effective torque. That's all I'm looking for.
You're not really explaining "stretched out" very well.
If I do the reduction gear swap, my engine will rev in gear as if I'd done a 4:10 to 4:30 swap. The AP2's have longer 5 and 6th gears for highway cruising but, I don't drive on the highway so, they don't matter to me. I'd prefer the AP1 for that reason.

Is it also a sequential (shifting) gearbox?
Anyway..
After reading about those type of gearboxes (dog box) and the recommendations from the manufacturers I agree with everyone stating it is not for street use.
Not that I have ever driven a car with a "dog box".
(and most likely never will)
It would be cool to say:
"Oh yeah.. I have a sequential dog box......"
But it turns uncool very quickly when you have to add:
"but it is in the shop today.. so I'm using public transport........"

so the upgraded gears (not dogbox) raises your gear ratio?
Is there any way to go the other way with the gear ratio as in lower for my fi aplication?
Sorry for all the questions, I have been looking for an upgrade for the trans for my turbo project and this seems to fit the bill.
thanks

sorry about that i was half aslep when i wrote that. these gears seem to be set the best for turbo cars because you stay in gear much longer than you normally would with the factory AP1 gears. Here's the comparison between factory and PPG:
Factory-----------------------------PPG/APP. Speed ineach gear(MPH)
1
Factory-----------------------------PPG/APP. Speed ineach gear(MPH)
1
Maybe I'm interpreting the ratio's wrong but, it looks like just the opposite. It looks like they're effectively lower gears across the board which would increase rev's per MPH in all gears.
The larger the ratio number, the more input shaft revs per output shaft revs.. So:
Stock: 3.13:1 versus 3.16:1 - torque gain over stock
Stock: 2.045:1 versus 2.09:1 - torque gain over stock
Stock: 1.481:1 versus 1.53:1 - torque gain over stock
....
Assuming you go with the PPG gears, you're effectlively making the tranny a closer ratio one with one less over-drive gear

You always know when there is a site like that dog box site, with no prices, and "dealers" that its just too much for the regular user. It does seem, from reading, that it would be possible to get a stronger, yet close to stock, set of "gears" from these guys that would be helical, with good, but stronger, synchros.
they do have prices on thier site up in the products section. But its all in australian. The bad thing about the syncro set is that it uses the factory syncros to mesh up with the new gears. It works great, shifts like stock it just sucks when you need to replace the syncros, because when you need to buy them from honda you have to buy the gear it goes to as well no ways around it.
