All I know is I'm having more fun in my car than I would be having in almost anything else out there, and I'll take that over 500 HP anyday.
I sold my '99 E55 AMG not long after getting my AP1. OK, it was only 350hp, but torque? The AMG had plenty...391 ft-lb. worth, from about 1800 RPM on up. You could just sit there and mash the right pedal for 5 second 0-60's, or brake-torque a little for 13.5 quarter miles. Over and over again, all day long. Addictive, I admit.
But did I get out of that car with a big s**t-eating grin plastered all across my face? Not usually. Did I have the urge to take the longest, most twisty way from A to B? No. Did I have any urge to track the AMG? No.
Net: the S2000 is easily the best car I've ever owned in terms of the sheer pleasure of driving it. 'Nuff said.

Having the CT SC and 4.77's should answer the OP's question.

^yes 4.77s give you a new found love for the car. They make it much quicker. Still, with all the power I've added and weight I've shaved, the damn thing still isn't fast enough!

The S2000 is fast for what it is. For my taste it could use a little more bottom end and mid range power. Other than that it offers the best balance of power, handling and gas milage.
Having said that I think Honda seriously needs to give this car a nice increase in power to remain competative with other offerings.

I think 120HP / liter is just (still) a freaking awesome accomplishment for a ~$30K naturally aspirated car.
The current horsepower wars are making for some incredibly powerful cars, but the truth is that this is not useful power for the street. What's worse, some of these cars are getting pretty damn portly. Not really the right direction, if you ask me.
In any case, I'm sure a car owner eventually gets accustomed to any level of power.

Having previously owned a 480hp Supra Turbo, I think the S2000 is fast enough for public streets. IMO, it's more fun to flog a slower car than it is to idle around w/ a super-fast one, and it's just not smart to thrash a supercar on the streets.
My S2000 is def. more fun than the Supra was overall. I'm glad I had the opp. to drive a S/C'd S2000, too, but I don't feel the need to go back to FI...I'm happy w/ focusing on using my driving skills to squeeze the most performance out of what I have.

The s2k is quick, but not fast IMO. I will be getting a supercharger and gears in the future. Then when I get use to that I will up the boost, and go from there. Maybe someday I will be as fast as Sideways.
