It might and it might NOT. If you're ever curious, put the car on a dyno. You may find (or not find ) that the car is down some significant HP. But then, if you're happy with the way the car works for you, never mind what anyone here tells you. Your engine internals may look like crap if you tore it down near 100,000 miles, but if you don't plan to keep it that long, it really doesn't matter.

Maybe this is beyond the scope of some peoples' ability?
any engine's internals will look like crap after 100k miles. all will have carbon build up, oil sludge, etc

not if you do frequent oil changes and take care of the engine properly. i just did a timing belt on my accord with 92k miles and the head looked brand new when we took the valve cover off. no oil sludge or deposits at all.

I take it to 9k all the time on 87, no problems, no knock, no hesitation, nothing. it runs fine on 87.

You are losing power. The ECU is pulling timing to compensate for the cheap fuel you are feeding it.

Pulled (retarded) timing = less power.

Why would you buy a car such as the honda s2000 and put cheap gas in it. I'd be willing to bet you buy Wal-Mart's "Super Tech" oil, and change it once every 7500 miles.
