Default pressure plate questions

Ok, I have an 05 and my clutch is slipping when I'm really getting on the pedal. Last track day it slipped while in 5th gear and had me really worried. It seemed to get a little bit better, but I noticed it again last night and I don't think it's going to hold up like I want it to on my next track day in November. So I need to replace it soon.

I've heard that the magical combo is an OEM disk with ACT HD pressure plate. I have a new disk and throwout bearing waiting on the PP, but I'm not sure if I can blow $400 right now on the ACT since I'll be buying all four tires and a windshield here soon as well. Also, since this is kind of my daily driver I'm not certain I want a pp with too much resistance as that would kill me in traffic.

I noticed that the AP1's have a tougher feel on the clutch than mine. Do they have a stronger pp or is something else different? I haven't heard of many slipping issues with the AP1's unless they're boosted and with my 05, I've started slipping around 15k miles.

So, the main questions are:

1. Does the AP1 have a stronger PP than the AP2 and are there slipping problems as well? If they are different, does anybody have the part numbers?

2. What aftermarket options are there that are reasonably priced and not a full race or agressive street application. Basically something just a notch or two above stock.

Thanks in advance.

ACT HD pressure plate!

That is the way to go for what you are looking for. I have one and the car still feels stock, only it does not slip. I have FI as well.

ACT heavy duty pressure plate, Toda flywheel, OEM friction disc, OEM throwout bearing

I have this combo and I LOVE IT! It grabs everytime with 350 to the wheels. Its just a little bit firmer than stock. Its not bad at all in traffic.

Joe, don't change out the clutch unless you want to do it right the first time. The ACT PP is so well worth it. Do not go back to the stock PP.

Keep saving bro

I'm definitely not going back to stock. I just know that the AP1's seem to feel harder than mine. It's sort of mushy and light feeling. I hate buying parts for this car sometimes. Every other car that ACT makes a pp for is like $200-$300 and then you scroll down to S2000 and it's more than double.

Found a new ACT pp on Ebay for $300!! The seller had a solid rep and the item is still shrink wrapped. Bought it right away with the buy it now before it was snatched up. He had it listed as "advanced clutch pressure plate" which threw me off but found out that ACT is Advanced Clutch. The lowest I've seen it online was $500 and the lowest on ebay is $370. This was definitely a good deal.
