I am the person that initially started this post. This is my reply to all of those that disagreed with me.

I am more than happy to help a prospective buyer of an S2000 with their decision. I would answer any questions they had in order to help them make the right decision, except pricing. I would not disclose what I paid for my car. It is my choice.

I simply disagree with the idea of a non-owner "enthusiast" telling a prospective buyer what they think a used S2000 would sell for. Especially when their tone is that of, "Don't pay any more than....."

This is an injustice to all S2000 owners trying to sell their cars now and in the future. How can you even make a statement like that without seeing the actual car itself.

Anyone trying to sell their used S2000 right now would probably agree with me.

That is a load of crap. If you really think a possible buyer is going to take the word of others as the Bible you are completely wrong. I am in the process of buying one and possibly two S2000s and I have learned quite a bit from these guys. The people that are selling their cars are selling them at those prices because nobody is willing to pay out the ass for the car anymore. I havent seen a single post that say I paid too much for my car and I hate it for that. The people that paid quite a bit over sticker are still happy because they got the first tast of the S. The MARKET in the U.S.A. (dont want to forget a period) dictates what cars sell for. This site is meant to bring people that have the same love for the S2000 together (whether you own one or not). We WANT to help each other.....If you dont see it that way thats fine.....

By the way if you want to make a real statement dont say stupid shit like this: Did you put a period after the Q on your I.Q. test?
I believe we learned grammer in the 5th grade. Didn't the Community College you attended teach this? It just makes you look like a child

Let's calm down and take a time out.

Every one's entitled to their opinions, and entitled to post them here. Personal attacks are NOT allowed.

I personally disagree with SilverS2KAZ, although I can see his concern. If I had paid more than I should've, I would try to help others avoid my mistake. I paid MSRP for mine, but would've paid 1 to 2 K more to have had it a month earlier, or to have had the color I wanted, etc. (I got the color I wanted). I wasn't willing to go to Chicago, or to have it re-shipped, I wanted to get it from a dealer I could look in the face without driving more than 2 to 4 hours. My time and efforts (to me) are more important than saving a couple grand. 20 (or 30) years ago, I couldn't have afforded a car like this, but now I find I have less time and more cash, just the opposite from when I was younger.

Buying a car for an investment is for those folks who have a lot of money for hobbies, who can afford to make a bad decision once in a while. Trying to make a buying decision based on resale, is a good idea. But if the resale on the S2K is going to affect your future, maybe you should've gotten a Hyundai? The S2K is a toy. If you can't afford expensive toys, perhaps a more useful vehicle would've been a better choice.

Between a non-owner enthusiast like myself who has been planning this purchase for more than a year, and an owner who found out the car is wrong for him/her and is now selling it... which one is more a member of the S2000 community, if there is such a thing? It seems to me that I am as much or more a part of the community than the person who is selling the car and effectively leaving the community.

Of course you can decide for yourself whether you want to disclose what you paid for your car, but I don't think you should be telling others not to reveal what they paid or what others should pay, or what they think the car's worth. You can't control that kind of information, especially since the advent of the Internet, so why bother trying?

Another response from me. I started this post.

First - Some have assumed I paid too much for the car, and that is why I have recommended we not discuss our purchase prices. In fact, it may be quite the opposite. However, in sticking to my policy, I will neither confirm nor deny this, or tell what I paid.

Second - 350+ people read this post, so there must be hundreds of S2k owners that read my post, said "Hmmmm", and have decided to no longer discuss the price they paid. It seems some of you disagree. I can appreciate that. Only those that still want to discuss what they paid will continue to quote their purchase price to prospective buyers, and that is OK.

Third - What I just can not deal with is the inmature, "smart-ass" responses. You know who you are.
From this point , I refuse to even read or respond to any reply to this post that begins to have a hint of inmaturity in it.
