i am not sure how much cold air the PRM really sucks in since it is under the hood...i know it is pointed towards the opening by the fender....but...
I had a PRM on my racing only S2000.... i cut a big hole in my headlight and put some duct work in there to get straight fresh air.... that seemed to work much better...... try that.

This myth has GOT to die...
PRM loser 65hp.
HKS loses 37hp.
But no one has proof.
Like I said.
I have a 2003 Ap1. Car is babied. I have the PRM AND the HKS exhaust...two mods that are supposed to make you lose power.
I put down 212whp....on a drum dyno.
Its the best sounding, its light, it doesnt look great, no hydrolock worry, MUCH better throttle response.
Losing HP is simply not true.
No myth brutha... I posted dynos a couple of years ago; I lost about 10rwhp with it. Russ and I were the first ones to get this intake. At first, I loved the sound and ignored some other issues like (1) increased heat bog (2) dec throttle response. Overall, their design sucks... its made to sound good, but that's about it.

Sorry....but 1 or 2 dynoes isnt enough.
The airflow path of the PRM is better than stock, which means (and it is) that the throttle response is improved.
I dont know what day your car was run. Was it mid July with 110 degree heat?
Was the fan big enough?
Was it in the right position? (probably not, because not much air was going to the wheel well, and most dynos have the fans several feet dead center)
Like I said...I had 3 fans (simulate actual airflow), and dynoed at 212. I have the two mods which are claimed HP losers.
The only thing I wish I did was check the intake temps with an outboard probe of the stock box and the PRM.
Maybe my car is a factory freak, but more likely its not. I noticed absolutely no difference in performance at all. In the summer, the car suffers from heat bog, but it does so with the stock box as well.
Not starting a flame war, but these are my results.
However, like I said before, I am no expert in airflow dynamics, but I dont believe that a 3" thick pipe, that has a straighter path than any other intake, and does get cool air at speed, can lose any power.
No flame was ever intended. I can disagree with someone and that doesn't mean that I am flaming them. I had before and after dynos, which I posted, that showed a loss....same dyno, fairly the same temp (same time of year)...the only difference was the PRM. It wasn't a single run...this was multiple runs. Now, one can lose a couple of hp due to weather conditions, but 10hp loss...there is something wrong. I checked the filter...it was clean, plugs good, etc. Now, the problem is resolved with Comptech intake.
-2nd.. the design is poor. The filter is long and thin...try breathing through a straw...that's what the engine is trying to do. 3rd, straight doesn't mean better...you can tune your runner length/angles for better flow.
-Again, no flame intended, but someone who is getting ready to or thinking about spending good money on a POS intake deserves to know all the info.

Well...i guess to each his own...I dynoed fairly well....about stock power IMHO (212 on an ap1) so I can only say what I have.
Just one more point....I remember someone saying PRM used crappy filters and then changed to K&N. Since you were one of the first to get it, maybe you had a bad filter that was causing the loss? The filter in my PRM is faily large....its a cone filter, about 8-10" long, and about 2.75" wide at the wide point.....
I have had the PRM for about 6 months now, and I love it, I had the aem V2 for about a year before that, I HAVE NOTICED NO DIFFERENCE in butt dyno, nor any difference in throttle response, nor any increased heat bog, I HAVE NOTICED a HUGE decrease in water sitting in the the intake and getting sucked into my engine and causing near hydrolock experiences. I think the PRM is one of the best sounding intakes IMO, no doubt you probably lose a HP or two, 10 rwhp seems insane on this car, what was the temperature when you dynoed tenblad? But ya, i would go with this or the K&N or comptech, the cold air intakes are just to prone to hydrolock in my opinion, others will disagree, but i had about 5 stalls due almost a gallon of water sitting in there, after a rain, a car wash etc...
Bottom line is, this car sounds fantastic once you get an intake
I've had it for about 3 years. Paid $90 for it, plus the cost of repair, custom paint, polishing, connectors and clamps.
I've been putting off a supercharger install on my S for 2 years because I just can't part with the PRM. Every time I go to a show or meet, everyone asks about the PRM. I've got a lot of mods, but the PRM is still the most popular.
I have never experienced heat bog with the PRM, and throttle response is definitely improved in my car. I've not heard a better sounding intake, it's loud and raw.
I bought a PRM intake that's in great condition but the directions are horrible. The weight of the PRM just hangs off the TB? There's no support piece mounted to the chassis on the other end?
