GIVE UP >>>>GIVE UP!!!!!!!!!

I went to another DEALER today.... They can hear the noise sometimes BUT they said they check up everything such as suspension, bar, tire,.......etc....They said my car is in perfect condition.....So hard to figure it out what's really going on....Two dealer service managers had done the test drive too. sigh~~~~~oh yeah....5 technicians just stand around under my car on doubt...............
I know technicians already did their best job to check out what's going on.... BUT STILL CAN"T FOUND
i am not sure is it US service technician get more well train than canada or the same...
Anyway.. I think I am going to give up.....I already been to dealer almost 10 times in one month....

Hi S-ToDo,

I know this one's aggravating, you just need to be patient. I had a 1988 Chrysler LeBaron convertible which I bought new that year. It had a "loud" squeek that occured intermittently when going around a right hand turn. The noise sounded like it was coming up from the left side of the area that the convertible top retracted into. I took it to the dealer a couple of times and they said they couldn't duplicate the problem. Having worked for auto dealers in the past and knowing how difficult these things can be to localize, I quit bothering the dealer with it. It didn't happen all the time so it wasn't that big a deal to put up with but it was darn annoying when it did make the sound.

I played around with the car for about six months, having friends or family drive the car while I sat in the back seat trying to figure out exactly where the noise was coming from. One day, in frustration, I put the car up on jack stands and crawled under it. After about 20 minutes of just sitting under there, stairing at the underside of the car, I noticed something so small and innocuous that it could have gone on for years and not have noticed. On the trailing link rear suspension was a small bracket that supported the brake line on it's way the the rear wheel. Just above that bracket, on the underside of the body of the car and right below the left side of area the top retracts into, was a small (maybe 1/8th of an inch) scratch in the undercoating. If fact, if the undercoating hadn't been there, it wouldn't have been noticable at all. What was happening was that, in a right turn, the suspension was compressing and that bracket was lightly touching and scraping the underside of the body. The effect was not unlike the ol fingernails on a chalkboard sound and the convertible top storage area was acting like a megaphone and amplifying the noise into the passenger compartment. I bent that bracket over about 1/2 inch and the problem was solved.

My point is that you might have something just as simple and just as difficult to spot and recognize. I know it frustrating. Please understand that it's just as frustrating for the service personnel too. Nothing would make their day better than being able to satisfy you on this one. Please try to be patient. Good luck!

Drive Safe,
Steve R.

Are you sure its not the strut. I have an 02 S and had the same sound but I knew it was a strut because I had one go in my other car before, the sound was familiar. I only had about 4000miles on the S when it went. I took it to the dealer and they told me there was nothing wrong, so I made the service manager take a ride with me just around the lot. After that he was like "oh I hear it now, I'll have the tech. take another look at it." I think they didn't take me seriously because I'm young.
I hate that dealership but its the only one within an hour drive of me.
