The salesperson lied to to you in order to get you committed to them. They figured, "Oh what the hell, we'll just string him along until the 2003's actually DO come out, and we've got ourselves a guaranteed sale."

They knew full well that no MY2003 would be arriving anywhere at any dealership as early as the 2nd week of September.

To punish them, go get your $2000 check back and go to another dealer and buy one from them.

To rub it in tell the dealer that the very thing they tried to gain from you - commitment - has now been given to another dealer that choce NOT to lie to you.
