Is a "processing fee" legitimate or a rip-off?

Honda-Freak...

Asking for what you want sounds simple, but it could still end up being a lost cause. You and I know well enough that you if you sell me an S2000 for say, $31,000, $1,800 under MSRP, you will make money on that deal and if it took a matter of 15 minutes to make that deal, it'd be a quick and easy sale. That's $1000+ over invoice, but as mentioned before, will management let it go for that price? In the end, it's not your decision. It's the manager's and I know salesmen are not only under pressure from themselves to get a nice fat paycheck, but they're also being pressured by management trying to make the most profit for the dealer. I've seen that look on salesmen's faces like, "I'd love to sell you this car for X amount, but my manager won't let me.".
Greedy management is not good.

If you were in South GA, I'd buy a car from you. Got any Suzuka blues?

Maryland caps the dealer prcessing fee at $100. Most dealers are charging $99, some are less and I heard of one that doesn't charge any.

with that in mind processing fee was developed so that when a customer comes in and says...

i will buy this brand new civic at invoice right now... the dealer can sell the car at invoice, charge a "processing fee" and still pay its employees and keep its doors open.
