Use Progressive.com's website to find rates of other companies. I thought the system would be rigged, but it really did offer a lower rate with someone else. Thing is, I saw how they handled someone else's claim once and was impressed, so I went with progressive even though it was a little bit higher.

I just did their quote system, and Progressive is fully 2x the price I get through Wawanesa.

I'd look into Wawanesa if you can get it (they do not cover all states), and Amica if you can't. NOTE: you need to have a pretty excellent record to get a good rate through these two companies.

a good number of people on this board have been satisfied with Wawanesa (esp. when having to file a claim), but another great website I go to for comparisons on insurance (or any big-ticket purchases) is epinions.com

I use Amica for home but they only write no-risk auto. If you have anything on your record in the last five years don't waste your time calling them.
