Unlike the 99 cents coin type gapper you get at Auto Zone, this gapper not only measures but also gaps the plug without touching the center electrode so you won't break it. I've heard that a couple of people spent extra money on new plugs because the coin type gapper didn't do a very good job of gapping (and ruined the center electrode). It's like 2 bucks. Thanks to Prolene for showing me the gapper.

Got both types you described. The 'real gapper' is the tool for setting plug gap. I use the coin type just to do a quick check (if needed) on the gap before I actually fool with the plug. I wish my 'gapper' looked in such mint condition as the picture but it has seen it's share of plugs over the years.

yes, indeed, much better than the 'slide-around-and-let-it-gap-itself' gapper. a 100% markup though! I dunno if I can do that.

Maybe if there was a Spoon version made out of Titanium (for that extra strength), then I could justify it, but that would run me $199.00 instead of $1.99.

Funcar...I thought I was the only one with one of those! Sorry Richard the coin is a Volkswagon compared to this one.....but you gotta gap a lot of plugs or just be a car guy (and gap your friends) to justify one of these babys.
