I guess now they'll drop the Plymouth moniker, and just call it the Prowler??

I think it is for a niche market. Baby boomers trying to recapture their youth with the Prowler and the PT cruiser or in the case of the Prowler someone just wanting a cool and unique looking car. My buddy restores and customizes 40 Fords and they are awesome. Some appeared in Hot Rod magazine and he hates the Prowler and PT. I bought the S2K for same reason, unique and rare. Prowler cant keep up on twisties but I could care less. Different strokes. I did get a lot more attention at the Drive-in Ice cream hangout this summer and there was a Prowler parked next to me.QUOTE]Originally posted by lvs2k:

I have raced a Prowler, probably about 3-4 months ago. It took me off the line, but by the middle of 3rd, I had him and was pulling on him. We actually did this at 2 stoplights, so the finding was consistent enough for me that they have plenty of low end torque but very little on the upper end. Kind of equals things out, eh?

I've never met a Prowler on the street, but several months ago, the local Prowler club came by one of the SCCA autocrosses and they all decided to give it a try.

Just for comparison purposes, the SCCA has classified the Prowler in A Stock for Solo II, the same class as the S2000. I spoke to some of the Prowler owners and a couple of them had done autocrossing before in previous cars.

Bottom line, the fastest Prowler was several seconds behind the slowest S2000 there that day. An autocross car it ain't! (But I think we knew that!)

You really have to give credit to Plymouth/Chrysler for having the balls to mass produce such a unique car though.
