I get flashed by oncomming traffic, and it is true: The farther away you are, or if your coming over the crest of a hill, the slightest bumps cause our upper edge of the HID light line to go above the windshields of these unsuspecting oncommers.
Following others over the crest of a hill does the same thing to those in front of us. I've followed my wife who will testify that our HID's are annoying.
If I can't pass, I try to keep my distance. If I'm following a slow poke, however; I don't want the guy behind me tailgating me, so I'll follow the slug closer than normal, and if flashed, I guess they had it comming to them.

Another thought...
...We see our share of HID's so they are not rare around here, but the fact that ours are soooooo bright, and they are relatively low to the ground (compared to most high end cars), and the low level requires a straighter outward aim, and the fact that our stooks ride so firm, this nearly level shaft of bright light bounces up & down in everyone's eyes.
Other's with HID's mounted in fenders/grills higher off the ground are able to be aimed more downward, reducung the chance of distant vehicles being flashed. They also are not as bright, and they typically have cushier rides.
It's a problem I can live with.

Even though there are plenty of other cars (like German import sedans) on the roads with HIDs, keep in mind that the shorter wheelbase of the S2000 causes the pitching motion (and flashing) more often than with the sedans.
