"Ricer Camaro"

Oh, that's classic.

For what its worth:

Every S2000 owner I've personally met who goes to the local drives and meetings has been cool. Not a punk or bad attitude among the group - and I've been to quite a few meets.

Worst thing I've seen happen at a local S2000 meet was someone lifted a case of Red Bull out of Back-Cracker's car. I still don't know if that was a theft or just some sort of joke.

The only other bad things were people getting too hot on the throttle on group drives and aquainting themselves with the local flora and fauna on the bottoms of our numerous canyons.

I don't get any challengers anymore in the S. There are just too many of them running around the Los Angeles area for the ricers to take much notice.

no matter what it is in life, no matter how elite, or exclusive anything may be, there will allways be at least one person that will discredit the group on some level.

being an s2000 owner makes you feel somewhat like a part of a club, but you shouldnt think of it as an elite organization. instead we should just share a sense of comradery with fellow owners.

with that said, yes there are people that have s2000s that make us look bad, and i will somewhat agree with you about people ricing them up and how disapointing that it is.

but instead of putting all of your thoughts toward the negative, instead just remember the ugliest most riced out s2000 every time that you see a clean s2000, and you will appreciate the clean one that much more.

the glass doesnt allways have to be half empty

Punks, as in punk rockers, typically eat their lunch in a gutter and if they even drive, have some POS american car from 1992 that hasn't been washed in years. I don't think punks drive S2000s.

punk - n. Slang.
a) A young person, especially a member of a rebellious counterculture group.
b) An inexperienced young man.

I was going more for b.

I'm 41, a business owner and father of three and have been dreaming about a car like the S2000 since I started looking at my dad's Car and Driver mags around age 13. I have owned a Volvo S70 T5 and a BMW M3 and this car is way more fun to drive.

I remember when I got my S2000, my neighbor's wife made some crack about "mid life crisis". My response to her was I would drive this car if I were 16 or 86 -- the difference is I can afford it now. Funny coming from the wife of someone that just bought a new RX8 a few months before I got the S.

I frankly don't give a damn what anyone else thinks about anything I drive. This car is a blast, it's paid for and I plan to keep it forever.

When I read the first post in this thread I expected the worst - ......but I'm impressed to see everyone has stayed pretty civilized here

bvanhiel - I don't care what you do, but I think the fact that the "punk" responses are not coming out should tell you something

I'm actually pleasantly surprised. Based on the existance of things like the "Street Encounters" forum, I assumed a larger "punk" population (you may wear it as a badge of honor if you wish). I also assumed a larger population of punk-haters (there is a "Vintage Owners" forum after all).

I'm glad I asked.

Now I'm just waiting for the 06's to hit the street so I can get a good deal on an 04-05.
