I'm just curious what other peoples experiences are as S owners. If I'm going to spend 30k on a car I want to be happy to see it when I walk out to the parking lot. That goes past what the car is and into what the car represents. When I started it represented "smart guy's sportscar" because it had good looks, good performance, good price and good reliability. I've been starting to get the "ricer camero" vibe more recently and wanted see who was out there driving them.
Our meets attract everyone from late teens to retired folk. We all have different presets on our radios, but we still get along.

I was going to invite you to check out the Vintage Owners Forum but if you think we are all punk-haters, I won't bother.

But aren't you a punk-hater, after all? Isn't that what your whole Thread is about?
One reason I like the S is that it's rare enough still that it doesn't have any particular reputation attached to it. It's just a cool car that's judged for what it is: a good-looking, above-average-performance roadster.

That's what I want: a car I can look at and see the car. It takes concentration to even see a M3 for what it is, since it's brand image is so overpowering. I want the anti-brand. I want the car that nobody quite recognizes. I suspect that is something that appeals to most S owners or they would have gotten boxters.

As to the Vintage Owners forum... I figured if the forums were doing their own segregation that there must be a motive. I was curious to see how deep it ran. It seems there's no real division, but nobody who's posted here has their street kills and video in their sig...

I'm a casual punk hater. It's a perpetual but self correcting problem. They're going to learn the hard way or die trying. Darwin at work. I just don't want my car stolen and/or get my insurance rate jacked so that they can replace their crumpled quarter panels. They seem to be a small minority, so my fear seems unfounded.

Just buy the car already. You know you want it, and we know you'll love it.

Just don't bring down OUR reputations

Exactly.. are you buying the car or buying an image? If your buying an image leave the S to someone who wants a car for what it is, not who makes it.
