Default Purchasing my MY06 next weekend - tips/advice?

Buying a 2006 S2K (Either White or Laguna Blue Pearl).

I have a couple questions...

1.) Will the dealership allow me to include the hard top in the total cost of the vehicle? (so I can finance it along with the vehicle) Hard top should run 2500-3000 I believe.

2.) Hardtop storage rack (for those who have it). Do you recommend it?

3.) Titanium shift knob (Yea, its probably over priced at the dealership, but is it a nice thing to have?)

4.) XM satellite radio. I need to purchase extra materials from the dealership in order to have this work, correct? If I need to mount the antenna on the outside of the car, forget about it...not interested in ruining the curves on the car.

5.) iPod link. How much would the dealership charge me for this? Worth it? (I use to have an iPod, but I can get one again for fairly cheap)

6.) Security system. I see the other thread posted here about dealer or aftermarket security systems. Seems like I will just get the basic keyless entry and buy an aftermarket 2-way security system on my own.

7.) I will be parking my car in direct sunlight in hot hot Arizona. Will the retractable roof start to be damaged in 115 degrees F days? I will be putting a shade to protect the dash...and tinting the rear window. But I'm worried about the soft top material on hot days.

8.) This is my first manual car....so what do you...haha just kidding. Got you there.

Appreciate any tips on my purchase.

Ixnay on the OEM style titanium knob, get a countersunk Voodoo from RicksS2k.

Congrats on the purchase! Take it easy for 600 miles then

Don't buy any extras from the dealer its just a rip.If you want XM and high speed Ipod go Alpine 9857,should only cost around 600.00 installed.I paid 30,450 before taxes,I probably could have pushed for 30k since it was still Feb.

ok, seems like an aftermarket HU will not only give me XM/iPod capability, but also give my stock system more juice and make it sound better.

a few comments

- like another said, get an aftermarket stereo w/ xm and ipod capabilities. better performance, less money.

- get an aftermarket alarm system for the same $200 cost of the honda alarm. again, better performance, less money

- shift knob is personal preference. i personally like the oem.

The OEM titanium is a great knob.

Don't mess with any stereo upgrades until you decide on aftermarket exhausts. You might find you won't be able to hear the stereo anyway.

When you pick up the car, have them put it on a lift and prove they removed the spring spacers. Also, tell them you don't want them to wash the car before delivery.

You can add the hardtop to the financing. Many people make their own hardtop storage unit - search for the details.

Get the mirror from Muz before you pickup the car and have the dealership install it when you pick it up. The blind spot on this car is crazy without it.
