Default purchasing strategy & advice needed

After reading these boards I've seen it's important not to exceed 5500 rpm's during break in. If I go to a local dealer looking to make my purchase of a new s2000 is there any way of know it a racer-want-to-be salesman or a test driver has not exceeded the 5500 rpm limit for the break in period? Is this even an issue? should I even worry about it?
As for price: I would like to score one for around $31k, Am I dreaming?

One way to make sure that the car has not be "over revved" is to buy one that has just been delivered or is in transport. As for the price, you may find a dealer willing to sell for around $31k, it depends on how hard you look or try. Most dealers will not let the price drop too easily but you should look around at dealers in a 50 mile radius. You can search Honda's website for dealers in your area.

You'd have a really hard time proving that the sales guy's have beaten the car up pre-breakin without going for a testdrive and getting the salesmen to redline it.

Even then they'd just come back and say "we never do this but we thought you'd buy it so we did it against our better judgement", or something along those lines.

You might have to figure out an easier to prove strategy.

And overall you probably wouldn't want a car that had been abused prior to the AHM defined abusement point

Go on Ebay and buy a low mileage one cheap from a dealer.

You should be able to get one for under $31k especially at this time of year. There's a '02 yellow one in Oneanta that I could have had for less than that, but I didn't want the yellow. If you look at the New England forum, there is a dealership in Rhode Island that will sell you one for that price, and less if you dicker long enough. But you better hurry, I think once the sun comes out, the prices will probably rise a little.

Come to MASS and I'll help you get one for about $29,9. I know the area where you live and its only about a 7hour ride to the dealer. PM me if you would like the info. They will even ship the car to you if you'd like. LMK if I can help.

Happy hunting

Its really not an issue at all...I myself am not worried about it. Just make sure that the car has very little miles on it and its not a Demo..

Good Luck
