Putting top down while moving?
I know there's a few people in here that have done this modification of where you can put the top up or down while rolling and not being restricted by the factory settings.
I was wondering if anyone had done it on the MY06? Is it the same as all the other years or would it be different on the MY06 due to different ECU settings?

Here's the original DIY thread.

According to the thread, it's just a plug you have to disconnect. I'm not sure if the ECU is involved since the only other thing is pulling up the hand brake a little. Definitely don't wanna disconnect that 1. If you work it out, put it up on the board cuz I wanna do it to my 06 as well.

Just cut it, you don't even need to remove that big cover in the front.. just lay on your back under it and you can see the wire.
The handbrake must be up 1 click for this to work too. It doesn't matter what speed you're going, but I wouldn't recommend more than 10-15.

Hmmm...I'd hate to remove something I can't easily put back later. Negative on the cutting.
Just pull the wire out of the harness and tape it off. That way you can put it back if you need to. This whole process took me about 15-20 minutes. I also agree not faster then 15 mph or you will have issues.
Wouldn't this mod mean that if you accidentally pressed the "Top Switch' while driving that the motor would try to pull the top down while it's latched, potentially burning up the motor or worse?

I've done the mod on my 06, including the handbrake bypass. I ended up just cutting the wires and taping off the ends, it's not difficult to repair if I ever feel the need. I find 30MPH and below is generally "ok" for using it, but for safety sake you should probably try for 15 and down.
It does make parking for short periods of time much easier, to close the top and roll up the windows while pulling into the spot.
