Question ?
I just picked up my S2000 today...My wife drove me to pick it up in her car. On the way home she saw that there was a circular hole in the back of the car, either on the bumper or above (cant recall where it is right now) It appears that it comes off, but I have no idea what it is for. I havent read the owner's manual yet (stuck at work right now) but if anyone has any information on it I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance...
i dont know what its for but i know theres one up front too. I was thinking maybe it was to release something for towing or whatever so that it doesnt mess up the car but i havent done any research either, its not really noticeable. Congrats on your new purchase! What color is it?
Underneath those caps are spots where you can screw in hooks for tying the car down, or for pulling it out of the sandtrap, i think greg has some good firsthand knowledge of the latter.
I believe the hooks themselves are in the trunk toolkit.

The plastic covers in the bumpers conceal a screw hole for a tow hook (I believe the hooks are stored with your jack) that can be screwed in to provide a hook point should your car ever need to be pulled out of a ditch or snowbank or whatever (heaven forbid!)...I had these on past BMWs as well. I think I've also heard that they are used during shipping to tie the car down to the deck of the boat when they are brought in from overseas.
Welcome to the club and enjoy! I've had my S2K for a week now and am totally obsessed with it - best thing I've bought in a long time!

One bit of advice (& I must say: It's so strange giving advice to anyone on this board): when you do need to pop the circles to get to the 'screw hole' for the hooks, cover a flat screwdriver with a towel, otherwise you run the risk of mucking (sp?) up your bumper.
And remember: If you must get towed, DEMAND a flat-bed.

Thanks for all the information, hopefully I'll never have to use the Tow hooks...
As for the car, I love it! I am going to get my Smog check done tomorrow and take it to the DMV to get registered, since I bought it out of state. I have to pick up my wife after work, she won't be getting out till about an hour or so after me, so I plan on doing some driving
